أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْهُجَيْمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَشْيَخَتُنَا عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُحْتَبٍ فِي بُرْدَةٍ وَإِنَّ هُدْبَهَا لَعَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوْصِنِي قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِاتِّقَاءِ اللهِ وَلَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ أَنْ تُفْرِغَ لِلْمُسْتَسْقِي وَإِيَّاكَ وَإِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْمَخِيلَةِ وَلَا يُحِبُّهَا اللهُ»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting with his legs drawn up in a burdah, and its fringe was upon his feet. I said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said: "You must fear Allah, and do not belittle any act of kindness, even if it is that you pour for one asking for water. And beware of letting the izār hang low, for it is from arrogance, and Allah does not love it."
