أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ عَنْ قُرَّةَ بْنِ مُوسَى الْهُجَيْمِيِّ وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ قُرَّةَ بْنِ مُوسَى الْهُجَيْمِيِّ عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ جَابِرِ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُحْتَبٍ بِبُرْدَةٍ وَإِنَّ هِدَابَهَا لَعَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوْصِنِي قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِاتِّقَاءِ اللهِ وَلَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ أَنْ تُكَلِّمَ أَخَاكَ وَوَجْهُكَ إِلَيْهِ مُنْبَسِطٌ وَإِيَّاكَ وَإِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ مِنَ الْمَخِيلَةِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّهَا»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting with his legs drawn up, wrapped in a burdah, and its fringes were upon his feet. I said: O Messenger of Allah, advise me. He said: "You must fear Allah, and do not belittle any act of kindness, even if it is that you speak to your brother with a cheerful face toward him. And beware of letting the izār hang low, for it is only from arrogance, and Allah does not love it."
