أَخْبَرَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ حِطَّانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا أَبُو مُوسَى فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الْقَعْدَةِ قَالَ
رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ أُقِرَّتِ الصَّلَاةُ بِالْبِرِّ وَالزَّكَاةِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ أَبُو مُوسَى أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمُ الْقَائِلُ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةَ فَأَرَمَّ الْقَوْمُ؟ قَالَ يَا حِطَّانُ لَعَلَّكَ قُلْتَهَا؟ قَالَ لَا وَقَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ تَبْكعَنِي بِهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُنَا صَلَاتَنَا وَسُنَّتَنَا فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ {غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ} [الفاتحة 7] فَقُولُوا آمِينَ يُجِبْكُمُ اللهُ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَقَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ يَسْمَعِ اللهُ لَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَجَدَ فَاسْجُدُوا فَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا فَإِنَّ الْإِمَامَ يَسْجُدُ قَبْلَكُمْ وَيَرْفَعُ قَبْلَكُمْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَتِلْكَ بِتِلْكَ»

✧ A man from the people [said]: The prayer has been linked to righteousness and zakāh. When Abū Mūsā said the salām, he turned to the people and said: “Which of you said this word?” But the people remained silent. He said: “O Ḥiṭṭān, perhaps you said it?” He replied: “No, but I feared that you would rebuke me for it.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us our prayer and our sunnah. He said: ‘The imam is only to be followed. So when he says the takbīr, say the takbīr; and when he recites {not of those who earned anger nor of those who went astray} [al-Fātiḥah: 7], say ‘Āmīn’ and Allah will answer you; and when he bows, bow; and when he rises and says “Allah hears the one who praises Him,” say “Our Lord, to You belongs praise” and Allah will hear you; and when he prostrates, prostrate; and when he rises, rise; for the imam prostrates before you and rises before you.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘That for that.’”
