أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَذَا فِي كِتَابِي وَالصَّوَابُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَذَكَرُوا أَنَّهُمْ نَزَلُوا دَهَاسًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ يَعْنِي بِالدَّهَاسِ الرَّمْلَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ يَكْلَؤُنَا» فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «إِذًا تنَامُ فَنَامُوا حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ نَاسٌ فِيهِمْ فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَفِيهِمْ عُمَرُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ» فَقَالَ «افْعَلُوا كَمَا كُنْتُمُ تَفْعَلُونَ» فَفَعَلْنَا قَالَ «كَذَلِكَ فَافْعَلُوا لِمَنْ نَامَ أَوْ نَسِيَ» قَالَ فَضَلَّتْ نَاقَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَلَبْتُهَا فَوَجَدْتُ حَبْلَهَا قَدْ تَعَلَّقَ بِشَجَرَةٍ فَجِئْتُ بِهَا فَرَكِبَ فَسِرْنَا وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ اشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَرَفْنَا ذَلِكَ فِيهِ فَتَنَحَّى مُنْتَبِذًا خَلْفَنَا فَجَعَلَ يُغَطِّي رَأْسَهُ فَيَشْتَدُّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى عَرَفْنَا أَنَّهُ قَدْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَتَانَا فَأَخْبَرَنَا أَنَّهُ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا} [الفتح 1]

✧ I heard 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud say: We returned with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the time of al-Hudaybiyyah. They mentioned that they dismounted on a soft sandy area of the ground—meaning by al-dahas, sand. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will keep watch for us?" Bilal said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Then you will sleep." So they slept until the sun rose. Some people woke up, among them so-and-so and so-and-so, and among them 'Umar. The Prophet ﷺ woke up and said, "Do as you used to do." So we did. He said, "Likewise, so do for one who sleeps or forgets." He said: The she-camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went astray, so I searched for it. I found its rope had caught on a tree, so I brought it. He mounted and we traveled. When revelation came down upon the Prophet ﷺ, it was intense for him, and we recognized that in him. He withdrew, staying behind us, and began to cover his head, and it became intense for him until we knew that it had been revealed to him. Then he came to us and informed us that it had been revealed to him: "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory" [al-Fath: 1].
