أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَارَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ فَاسْتَشَارَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ اسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِيَّاكُمْ يُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالُوا إِذًا لَا نَقُولُ مَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى «اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَوْ ضَرَبْتَ أَكْبَادَهَا إِلَى بَرْكِ الْغِمَادِ لَاتَّبَعْنَاكَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled to Badr and consulted the Muslims. Abu Bakr advised him, then he consulted them again and Umar advised him, then he consulted them again. The Ansar said, 'O assembly of Ansar, it is you whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intends.' They said, 'Then we will not say what the Children of Israel said to Musa: "Go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are sitting right here" [Quran 5:24]. By the One who sent you with the truth, if you were to strike its livers until you reach Bark al-Ghimad, we would follow you.'"
