✧ Prophet's Statement "Ali is the Wali (guardian) of every believer after me

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حَصِينٍ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَيْشًا وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَمَضَى فِي السَّرِيَّةِ فَأَصَابَ جَارِيَةً فَأَنْكَرُوا عَلَيْهِ وَتَعَاقُدُوا أَرْبَعَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا لَقِينَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِمَا صَنَعَ وَكَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِذَا رَجَعُوا مِنَ السَّفَرِ بَدَءُوا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتِ السَّرِيَّةُ سَلَّمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَامَ أَحَدُ الْأَرْبَعَةِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ «أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا؟» فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَامَ يَعْنِي الثَّانِي فَقَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ الثَّالِثُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ ثُمَّ قَامَ الرَّابِعُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَا قَالُوا فَأَقْبَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْغَضَبُ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ «مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ؟ إِنَّ عَلِيًّا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an army and put 'Ali b. Abi Talib in command over them. He went on the expedition and captured a slave girl, but they disapproved of him and four of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a pact: when we meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we will inform him of what he did. It was the custom of the Muslims, when they returned from a journey, to begin by greeting the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then go to their mounts. When the expedition arrived and greeted the Prophet ﷺ, one of the four stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not see what 'Ali b. Abi Talib did, such and such?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him. Then the second stood up and said something similar, then the third said something like his statement, then the fourth stood up and said the like of what they said. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced them with anger in his face and said, "What do you want from 'Ali? Indeed 'Ali is from me and I am from him, and he is the wali of every believer after me."
