✧ Abu Bakr said to him: 'Repent to Allah and conceal yourself with the concealment of Allah, for Allah accepts repentance from His servants.' Then he came to Umar and said to him the like of what he said to Abu Bakr, and Umar said to him what Abu Bakr had said. Then he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'The other one has committed adultery.' Sa'id said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him three times, each time turning away from him, until when he insisted much, he sent to his family and said: 'Is he ill? Does he have madness?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he is healthy.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Is he a virgin or a married man?' He said: 'Rather a married man.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered and he was stoned." [7142] Al-Husayn b. Mansur al-Naysaburi informed us: Ibn Numayr narrated to us: Yahya b. Sa'id narrated to us from Sa'id b. al-Musayyib: A man from Aslam came to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and mentioned the like of it.
