أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَدِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ

قَالَ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُفْرِ يُسْلِمُ عَلَى يَدَيْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ كَيْفَ الْقَضَاءُ فِيهِ؟ قَالَ «هُوَ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِمَحْيَاهُ وَبِمَمَاتِهِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهَذَا أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ مِنَ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ

✧ Tamim al-Dari said: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying: 'What do you think about a man from the people of disbelief who accepts Islam at the hands of a man from the people of Islam; how is the ruling concerning him?' He said: 'He is the closest of people to him in his life and in his death.' Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This is more correct than the one before it.
