✧ Inheritance of a woman from the blood money of her husband.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي الْأَنْصَارِيَّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ نَشَدَ عُمَرُ النَّاسَ بِمِنًى مَنْ

سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِ قَوْلًا فَقَالَ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْكِلَابِيُّ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ بَنِي كِلَابٍ عِنْدِي مِنْهُ عِلْمٌ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ وَقَالَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا انْتَظِرْنِي حَتَّى أَخْرُجَ فَدَخَلَ فُسَيْطِيطًا فَمَكَثَ فِيهِ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَأَخْبَرَ النَّاسَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يُوَرِّثَ امْرَأَةَ أَشْيَمَ مِنْ دِيَةِ زَوْجِهَا فَرَجَعَ

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make a statement about it, so al-Dahhak b. Sufyan al-Kilabi, whom the Prophet ﷺ had appointed over the zakat of Banu Kilab, said: “I have knowledge about it.” Umar said something to the effect: “Wait for me until I come out.” He entered a small tent, remained in it for a while, then came out and informed the people that the Prophet ﷺ had written to him to give the wife of Ashyam an inheritance from her husband's blood money, and so he retracted.
