✧ Inheritance of a woman from the blood money of her husband.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ

كَانَ عُمَرُ يَقُولُ الدِّيَةُ عَلَى الْعَاقِلَةِ وَلَا تَرِثُ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ دِيَةِ زَوْجِهَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَهُ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ «أَنْ وَرِّثِ امْرَأَةَ أَشْيَمَ الضِّبَابِيِّ مِنْ دِيَةِ زَوْجِهَا»

✧ Umar used to say: “The blood money is upon the ‘aqilah (paternal kinsmen), and the woman inherits nothing from her husband's blood money.” Al-Dahhak b. Sufyan said to him: “The Prophet ﷺ wrote to him: ‘Give the wife of Ashyam al-Dababi an inheritance from her husband's blood money.’”
