✧ Breastfeeding of the elder

أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّدَفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ يَزِيدَ وَمَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ

أَبَى سَائِرُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ بِتِلْكَ الرَّضَاعَةِ يُرِيدُ رَضَاعَةِ الْكَبِيرِ وَقُلْنَ لِعَائِشَةَ وَاللهِ مَا نَرَى الَّذِي أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَهْلَةَ بِنْتَ سُهَيْلٍ إِلَّا رُخْصَةً فِي رَضَاعَةِ سَالِمٍ وَحْدَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَاللهِ لَا يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا أَحَدٌ بِهَذِهِ الرَّضْعَةِ وَلَا يَرَانَا خَالَفَهُمَا عُقَيْلٌ

Translation

✧ The rest of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ refused that anyone among the people should enter upon them by virtue of that breastfeeding, meaning the breastfeeding of an adult. They said to A'ishah: By Allah, we do not consider what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Sahlah bt. Suhayl to be anything but a concession for the breastfeeding of Salim alone from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, no one shall enter upon us by this breastfeeding, nor see us. Uqayl differed from them.
