al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 5290

✧ What Allah has obligated (upon) His Messenger ﷺ and made it easier (for) His creation, to increase him with it, if Allah wills, nearness to Him.

أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الْمِصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ لَمَّا أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِتَخْيِيرِ أَزْوَاجِهِ بَدَأَ بِي فَقَالَ «إِنِّي ذَاكِرٌ لَكِ أَمْرًا فَلَا عَلَيْكِ أَنْ لَا تَعْجَلِي حَتَّى تَسْتَأْمِرِي أَبَوَيْكِ» قَالَتْ قَدْ عَلِمَ أَنَّ أَبَوَيَّ لَمْ يَكُونَا لِيَأْمُرَانِّي بِفِرَاقِهِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِأَزْوَاجِكَ إِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيلًا} [الأحزاب 28] فَقُلْتُ فِي أَيِّ هَذَا أَسْتَأْمِرُ أَبَوَيَّ فَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ ثُمَّ فَعَلَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلْتُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ ذَلِكَ حِينَ قَالَهُ لَهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَاخْتَرْنَهُ طَلَاقًا مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنَّهُنَّ اخْتَرْنَهُ

✧ 'A'ishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: When the Messenger of God ﷺ was commanded to give his wives the choice, he began with me and said: 'I am going to mention something to you, but you need not hasten until you consult your parents.' She said: 'He knew that my parents would not command me to part with him.' She said: Then he recited this verse: {O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a kind release} [al-Ahzab 28]. I said: 'About which of this should I consult my parents? For I desire God and His Messenger and the Final Abode.' 'A'ishah said: Then the wives of the Prophet ﷺ did the same as I did, and that was not when the Messenger of God ﷺ said it to them and they chose him, a divorce, because they chose him.
