al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 5289

✧ Prophet's ﷺ Marriage and what Allah, the Glorious, has made permissible for His Prophet ﷺ and forbidden for His creation, as an increase in His honor and a clarification of His excellence.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ أَنَا فِي الْقَوْمِ إِذْ

قَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِنِّي قَدْ وَهَبْتُ نَفْسِي لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَرَ فِيهَا رَأْيَكَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ زَوِّجْنِيهَا فَقَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَاطْلُبْ وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ» فَذَهَبَ وَلَمْ يَجِئْ بِشَيْئٍ وَلَا بِخَاتَمٍ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَعَكَ مِنْ سُوَرِ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَزَوَّجَهُ بِمَا مَعَهُ مِنْ سُوَرِ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ A woman said: 'I have offered myself to you, O Messenger of God, so decide what you see fit.' A man stood up and said: 'Marry her to me.' He said: 'Go and seek something, even if it is an iron ring.' He went and came back with nothing, not even an iron ring. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Do you have anything of the surahs of the Qur'an?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then he married him to her for what he had of the surahs of the Qur'an.'
