أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْحَرَشِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ» فَضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نُعَيْمَانَ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَرَأَى الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَنَّ الْحَدَّ قَدْ وَقَعَ وَأَنَّ الْقَتْلَ قَدْ رُفِعَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever drinks wine, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it a fourth time, strike his neck." The Messenger of God ﷺ flogged Nu'ayman four times, and the Muslims saw that the legal penalty had been applied and that killing had been lifted.
