أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

«إِذَا شَرِبَ الرَّجُلُ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا فَلَمْ يَقْتُلْهُ

Translation

✧ "When a man drinks, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it a fourth time, kill him." A man from among us was brought to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he did not kill him.
