أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ مُنْذُ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُومَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ بَرِيرَةَ
أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ فِي ثَلَاثٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ تُصُدِّقَ عَلَيَّ بِلَحْمٍ فَأَهْدَيْتُهُ لِعَائِشَةَ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا اللَّحْمُ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَحْمٌ تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ فَأَهْدَتْهُ لَنَا فَقَالَ «هُوَ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ» وَكَاتَبَتْ عَلَى تِسْعِ أَوَاقٍ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ إِنْ شَاءَ مَوَالِيكِ عَدَدْتُ لَهُمْ ثَمَنَكِ عَدَّةً وَاحِدَةً فَقَالَتْ إِنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَشْتَرِطِي لَهُمُ الْوَلَاءَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «اشْتَرِيهَا وَاشْتَرِطِي لَهُمْ فَإِنَّمَا الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ» قَالَتْ وَأَعْتَقَنِي فَكَانَ لِيَ الْخِيَارُ
Translation

- ʿAmr b. ʿAlī
✧ That she said: "In one of the years, some meat was given to her as sadaqah, and I gave it as a gift to Aisha. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and said: 'What is this meat?' She said: 'Meat that was given as sadaqah to Barirah, and she gave it to us as a gift.' He said: 'It is sadaqah for Barirah and a gift for us.' She had entered into a kitabah contract for nine uqiyyahs. Aisha said: 'If your masters wish, I will pay them your price in one lump payment.' She said: 'They say: Unless you stipulate the wala' for them.' I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Buy her and stipulate for them, for the wala' belongs to the one who frees.' She said: 'And he freed me, and I was given the choice.'"
