أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَفِظْتُ مِنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ بَرِيرَةَ جَاءَتْ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ تَسْأَلُهَا فِي كِتَابَتِهَا فَقَالَ
أَهْلُهَا إِنْ شِئْتِ أُعْطِيتِ بَاقِيَ كِتَابَتِهَا وَيَكُونُ لَنَا الْوَلَاءُ فَلَمَّا أَنْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ اشْتَرِيهَا فَأَعْتِقِيهَا فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ ثُمَّ صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ يَشْتَرِطُونَ شُرُوطًا لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ مَنِ اشْتَرَطَ شَرْطًا لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ لَمْ يَجُزْ لَهُ وَإِنِ اشْتَرَطَ مِائَةَ شَرْطٍ»

✧ Her owners said: "If you wish, we will pay the remainder of her kitabah and the wala' will be ours." When the Prophet ﷺ came, she mentioned that to him, and he said: "Buy her and free her, for the wala' belongs to the one who frees." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the minbar and said: "What is the matter with people who stipulate conditions that are not in the Book of Allah? Whoever stipulates a condition that is not in the Book of Allah, it is not valid for him, even if he stipulates a hundred conditions."
