أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَعْدَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ وَهِيَ جَدَّتُهُ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِي فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمَةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْمُتَطَوِّعُ أَمِيرُ نَفْسِهِ فَإِنْ شِئْتِ فَصُومِي وَإِنْ شِئْتِ فَأَفْطِرِي» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ جَعْدَةُ مِنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ 3289 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْدَةُ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَهْلُنَا وَأَبُو صَالِحٍ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَكَانَ سِمَاكٌ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنَي أُمِّ هَانِئٍ فَرَوَيْتُهُ أَنَا عَنْ أَفْضَلِهِمَا

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her on the Day of the Conquest, and a vessel was brought to him, and he drank, then he handed it to me. I said, 'I am fasting.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The voluntary faster is the commander of himself. If you wish, then fast; and if you wish, then break your fast.' Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'Ja'dah did not hear it from Umm Hani'. 3289 Muhammad b. al-Muthanna informed us, from Abu Dawud, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Ja'dah informed me, from his grandmother Umm Hani', that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her, and he mentioned the hadith. I said to him, 'Did you hear it from Umm Hani'?' He said, 'Our family narrated it to us, and Abu Salih, from Umm Hani'.' Shu'bah said: 'Simak used to say: The two sons of Umm Hani' narrated to me, so I narrated it from the better of them.'
