أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْآخَرَ وَقَعَ عَلَى امْرَأَتِهِ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ «أَتَجِدُ مَا تُحَرِّرُ رَقَبَةً؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «أَتَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَتَجِدُ مَا تُطْعِمُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا؟» قَالَ لَا فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ وَهُوَ الزَّنْبِيلُ فَقَالَ «أَطْعِمْ هَذَا عَنْكَ» قَالَ أَحْوَجُ مِنَّا؟ قَالَ «فَأَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'The other one had intercourse with his wife in Ramadan.' He said to him, 'Can you find something to free a slave?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'Can you fast two consecutive months?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'Can you find something to feed sixty poor people?' He said, 'No.' Then a basket containing dates was brought to the Prophet ﷺ—that is, the palm-leaf basket. He said, 'Feed this on your behalf.' He said, 'To those more in need than us?' He said, 'Then feed it to your family.'
