أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ رَجُلًا أَفْطَرَ فِي رَمَضَانَ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ بِعِتْقِ رَقَبَةٍ أَوْ صِيَامِ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ أَوْ إِطْعَامِ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا قَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَجِدُهُ فَأُتِيَ بِعِرْقِ تَمْرٍ فَقَالَ «خُذْ هَذَا فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ» قَالَ أَحَدٌ أَحْوَجُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنِّي فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنْيَابُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «كُلْهُ»

✧ He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded a man who broke his fast in Ramadan to expiate by freeing a slave, or fasting two consecutive months, or feeding sixty poor people. The man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I cannot find it.' Then a basket of dates was brought, and he said, 'Take this and give it in charity.' He said, 'Is there anyone more in need, O Messenger of Allah, than me?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed until his canine teeth showed, then said, 'Eat it.'
