حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَارَةَ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَذْكُرُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَعَ أَصْحَابِهِ جَاءَهُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمُ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؟ قَالُوا هَذَا الْأَمْغَرُ الْمُرْتَفِقُ قَالَ حَمْزَةُ الْأَمْغَرُ الْأَبْيَضُ مُشْرَبُ حُمْرَةً قَالَ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ فَمُشْتَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ قَالَ «سَلْ عَمَّا بَدَا لَكَ» قَالَ أَنْشُدُكَ بِرَبِّ مَنْ قَبْلَكَ وَرَبِّ مَنْ بَعْدَكَ آللَّهُ أَرْسَلَكَ؟ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ وَأَنْشُدُكَ بِهِ آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ؟ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ أَنْشُدُكَ بِهِ آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ مِنْ أَمْوَالِ أَغْنِيَائِنَا فَتَرُدَّهُ عَلَى فُقَرَائِنَا؟ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ وَأَنْشُدُكَ بِهِ آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ نَصُومَ هَذَا الشَّهْرَ مِنْ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ شَهْرًا؟ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ وَأَنْشُدُكَ بِهِ آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ نَحُجَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا؟ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي آمَنْتُ وَصَدَّقْتُ وَأَنَا ضِمَامُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ

✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was with his companions, a man from the desert came to them and said, 'Which of you is the son of Abd al-Muttalib?' They said, 'This fair-skinned one who is reclining.' Hamzah said: 'Al-amghar means white with a reddish tinge.' He said, 'I am going to ask you and be harsh in questioning.' He said, 'Ask whatever you wish.' He said, 'I adjure you by the Lord of those before you and the Lord of those after you: Did Allah send you?' He said, 'O Allah, yes.' He said, 'And I adjure you by Him: Did Allah command you that we pray five prayers every day and night?' He said, 'O Allah, yes.' He said, 'I adjure you by Him: Did Allah command you to take from the wealth of our rich and return it to our poor?' He said, 'O Allah, yes.' He said, 'And I adjure you by Him: Did Allah command you that we fast this month out of the twelve months?' He said, 'O Allah, yes.' He said, 'And I adjure you by Him: Did Allah command you that we perform Hajj to this House, for whoever is able to find a way?' He said, 'O Allah, yes.' He said, 'I believe and I affirm, and I am Dimam b. Tha'labah.'
