أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ الْوَرَّاقُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَى مَخِيلَةً تَعْنِي الْغَيْمَ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ وَتَغَيَّرَ وَدَخَلَ وَخَرَجَ وَأَقْبَلَ وَأَدْبَرَ فَإِذَا مُطِرَ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ بَعْضَ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ قَالَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكِ لَعَلَّهُ كَمَا قَالَ قَوْمُ عَادٍ {فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُمْ بِهِ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ} [الأحقاف 24]

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ, when he saw a cloud formation—meaning clouds—his face would change color and alter, and he would go in and out, and turn forward and back. When it rained, he was relieved. Aishah said: I mentioned to him some of what I saw from him. He said: “What makes you know? Perhaps it is as the people of Ad said: {When they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, ‘This is a cloud bringing us rain.’ Nay, it is what you sought to hasten: a wind in which is a painful punishment} [al-Ahqaf 24].”
