أَخْبَرَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى مَخِيلَةً تَغَيَّرَ وَجْهُهُ وَدَخَلَ وَخَرَجَ وَأَقْبَلَ وَأَدْبَرَ فَإِذَا مَطَرَتْ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَا آمَنَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَمَا قَالَ اللهُ {فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا} [الأحقاف 24] إِلَى {رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ} [الأحقاف 24]

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ, when he saw a cloud formation, his face would change, and he would go in and out, and turn forward and back. When it rained, he was relieved. I mentioned that to him, and he said: “What assurance does he have that it is not as God said: {When they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, ‘This is a cloud bringing us rain’} [al-Ahqaf 24] up to {a wind in which is a painful punishment} [al-Ahqaf 24].”
