عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَفَّانَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ وَدَاوُدَ وَابْنِ عَوْنٍ وَزُبَيْدٍ وَمُجَالِدٍ خَمْسَتُهُمْ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ
خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَا نَبْدَأُ بِهِ فِي يَوْمِنَا هَذَا أَنْ نُصَلِّي ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنَنْحَرُ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ فَقَدْ أَصَابَ سُنَّتَنَا وَمَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ لَحْمٌ قَدَّمَهُ لِأَهْلِهِ لَيْسَ مِنَ النُّسُكِ فِي شَيْءٍ» قَالَ وَذَبَحَ خَالِي أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ قَالَ يَا رَسُوَل اللهِ ذَبَحْتُ وَعِنْدِي جَذَعَةً خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُسِنَّةٍ قَالَ «اجْعَلْهَا مَكَانَهَا وَلَمْ تُجْزِئْ أَوْ تُوفِ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and said: “The first thing we begin with on this day of ours is that we pray, then we return and sacrifice. Whoever does that has followed our Sunnah. And whoever slaughters before that, it is only meat he has offered to his family, not part of the sacrifice in any way.” He said: My maternal uncle Abu Burdah b. Niyar slaughtered. He said: O Messenger of Allah, I slaughtered and I have a jadha‘ah that is better than a musinnah. He said: “Make it in its place, and it will not suffice, or fulfill, for anyone after you.”
