أَخْبَرَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جَابِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَوْسَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ يَقُولُ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا الْأَشْعَثِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَوْسَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَغَسَلَ وَغَدَا وَابْتَكَرَ وَمَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ وَدَنَا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ وَأَنْصَتَ وَلَمْ يَلْغُ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ» قَالَ مَحْمُودٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ «فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الْإِمَامُ أَنْصَتَ وَلَمْ يَلْغُ كَانَ لَهُ بِهِ عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ» قَالَ ابْنُ جَابِرٍ فَذَاكَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ هَذَا فَقَالَ أَنَا سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَشْعَثِ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَقَالَ بِكُلِّ قَدَمٍ عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ صَيَامُهَا وَقِيَامُهَا قَالَ ابْنُ جَابِرٍ حَفِظَ يَحْيَى وَنَسِيتُ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—and Amr b. Uthman informed me, he said: al-Walid narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid b. Jabir, that he heard Abu al-Ash'ath narrate that he heard Aws b. Aws, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever performs ghusl on Friday, washes his head, goes early, walks and does not ride, draws near to the imam, listens and does not engage in idle talk, for every step he takes he will have the reward of a year's deeds.' Mahmud said in his narration: 'When the imam comes out, if he listens and does not engage in idle talk, he will have the reward of a year's deeds for it.' Ibn Jabir said: Yahya b. al-Harith discussed this with me and said: I heard Abu al-Ash'ath narrate this hadith and he said: 'For every footstep, a year's reward of fasting and praying.' Ibn Jabir said: 'Yahya remembered and I forgot.'
