أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لِآدَمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَا آدَمُ قُمْ فَابْعَثْ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ بَعْثَ النَّارِ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ وَمَا بَعْثُ النَّارِ؟ فَيَقُولُ مِنْ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ تِسْعُمِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعِينَ وَيَبْقَى وَاحِدٌ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ يَشِيبُ الصَّغِيرُ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا {وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُمْ بِسُكَارَى وَلَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللهِ شَدِيدٌ} [الحج 2] فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ تِسْعُمِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ وَيَبْقَى وَاحِدٌ فَأَيُّنَا ذَلِكَ الْوَاحِدُ؟ فَدَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ «مِنْ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ أَلْفٌ وَمِنْكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَأَبْشِرُوا فَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا رُبْعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» فَكَبَّرُوا وَحَمِدُوا اللهَ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» فَكَبَّرُوا وَحَمِدُوا اللهَ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو اللهَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا نِصْفَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» فَكَبَّرُوا وَحَمِدُوا اللهَ قَالَ «مَا أَنْتُمْ فِي الْأُمَمِ إِلَّا كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَوْ كَالشَّعْرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَبْيَضِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say to Ādam on the Day of Resurrection: “O Ādam, arise and send forth the portion of Hellfire from your descendants.” He will ask: “O Lord, what is the portion of Hellfire?” He will say: “From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine, and one will remain.” At that time the young will turn gray and every pregnant female will miscarry, and {you will see people drunk, though they are not drunk, but the punishment of Allah is severe} [al-Ḥajj 2]. This distressed his companions, so they said: “O Messenger of Allah, from every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine, and one remains? Which of us will be that one?” He entered his house, then came out to them and said: “From Yaʾjūj and Maʾjūj a thousand, and from you one. Rejoice, for I hope that you will be a quarter of the people of Paradise.” They said takbīr and praised Allah. He said: “I hope that you will be a third of the people of Paradise.” They said takbīr and praised Allah. He said: “I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise.” They said takbīr and praised Allah. He said: “You among the nations are but like a white hair on a black ox, or like a black hair on a white ox.”
