أَخْبَرَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ حَيَّاتِ الْبُيُوتِ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا فِي مَسَاكِنِكُمْ فَقُولُوا أَنْشَدْنَاكُمْ بِالْعَهْدِ الَّذِي أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُمْ نُوحٌ وَنُنْشِدُكُمْ بِالْعَهْدِ الَّذِي أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلَيْمَانُ أَنْ تُؤْذُونَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَ فَاقْتُلُوهُنَّ

✧ I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a man came and asked him about house snakes. He said, “When you see any of them in your dwellings, say: We adjure you by the covenant which Noah took upon you, and we adjure you by the covenant which Solomon took upon you, not to harm us. If they return, then kill them.”
