أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَتَّابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْ حَبَسَ اللهُ الْقَطْرَ عَنْ أُمَّتِي عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ مَاءً لَأَصْبَحَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي بِهَا كَافِرِينَ يَقُولُونَ هُوَ بِنَوْءِ الْمِجْدَحِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمِجْدَحُ الشِّعْرَى

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If Allah withheld rain from my Ummah for ten years and then sent down water, a group of my Ummah would become disbelievers by it, saying, "It is due to the star of the Miqdah (Sirius)."' Abu Abd al-Rahman said: 'Al-Miqdah is ash-Shi'ra (Sirius).'
