حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ
عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي مَا عَلَّمْتُهُنَّ حَسَنًا وَلَا حُسَيْنًا خَصَصْتُكَ بِهِنَّ إِذَا كَرَبَكَ أَمْرٌ فَقُلْ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me words to say at times of distress when it descended upon me—words he did not teach to Hasan or Husayn. He singled me out with them. When a matter distresses you, say: There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Him. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
