أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَقَّانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ وَأَمَرَنِي إِنْ نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَوْ شِدَّةٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهَا «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ» فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يُلَقِّنُهَا الْمَيِّتَ وَيَنْفُثُ بِهَا عَلَى الْمَوْعُوكِ وَيُعَلِّمُهَا الْمُغْتَرِبَةَ مِنْ بَنَاتِهِ

✧ He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words and commanded me to say them if distress or hardship descended upon me: There is no god but Allah, the Generous, the Forbearing. Glory be to Him. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Abdullah b. Jafar used to teach these words to the dying, blow them upon the fever-stricken, and teach them to his daughters going away from home.
