أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ حَدَّثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا عَافِيَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْهَاشِمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْشِي وَامْرَأَةٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ الطَّرِيقَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتِ الطَّرِيقُ مُعْتَرِضٌ إِنْ شَاءَ يَمِينًا وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَخَذَ شِمَالًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «دَعُوهَا فَإِنَّهَا جَبَّارَةٌ» قُلْتُ إِنَّهَا إِنَّهَا قَالَ «إِنَّ ذَلِكَ فِي الْقَلْبِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَافِيَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ثِقَةٌ وَسُلَيْمَانُ الْهَاشِمِيُّ لَا أَعْرِفُهُ

Translation

✧ While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking, with a woman ahead of him, I said, "[Clear] the way for the Prophet ﷺ." She said, "The road is wide; if he wishes, [he may go] right, and if he wishes, he may take the left." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Leave her, for she is a tyrant." I said, "Indeed she is, indeed she is." He said, "That is in the heart." Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'Afiyah b. Yazid is trustworthy, but Sulayman al-Hashimi I do not know.
