أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أُبَيٍّ قَالَ
مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِي مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ إِلَّا أَنِّي قَرَأْتُ آيَةً وَقَرَأَهَا آخَرُ غَيْرَ قِرَاءَتِي فَقُلْتُ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقْرَأْتَنِي آيَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ أَلَمْ تُقْرِئْنِي آيَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِنَّ» جِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ أَتَيَانِي فَقَعَدَ جِبْرِيلُ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَمِيكَائِيلُ عَنْ يَسَارِي فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ اقْرَأِ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَقَالَ مِيكَائِيلُ بَلِ اسْتَزِدْهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ سَبْعَةَ أَحْرُفٍ فَكُلُّ حَرْفٍ شَافٍ كَافٍ

✧ Nothing troubled my heart since I accepted Islam except that I recited an ayah, and another person recited it differently from my recitation. I said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught it to me," and the other said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught it to me." Then I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you teach me such-and-such ayah?" He said, "Yes." And the other man said, "Did you not teach me such-and-such ayah?" He said, "Yes. Jibril and Mika'il came to me, and Jibril sat on my right and Mika'il on my left. Jibril said, 'Recite the Quran in one harf.' Mika'il said, 'Ask him for more,' until it reached seven ahruf, and every harf is curing and sufficient."
