أَخْبَرَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ فَسَلَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا أَنْتَ وَالِدُنَا وَأَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا وَأَنْتَ أَفْضَلُنَا عَلَيْنَا فَضْلًا وَأَنْتَ أَطْوَلُنَا عَلَيْنَا طُولًا فَقَالَ «قُولُوا بِقَوْلِكُمْ لَا تَسْتَهْوِيَنَّكُمُ الشَّيَاطِينُ» [103] 10005 أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبِي انْطَلَقْتُ فِي وَفْدٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالُوا أَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا قَالَ «السَّيِّدُ اللهُ» قَالُوا وَأَفْضَلُنَا فَضْلًا فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a delegation from Banu 'Amir, and we greeted him. They said, 'You are our father, you are our master, you are the most excellent of us in excellence, and you are the greatest of us in eminence.' He said, 'Speak as you speak, but let not the devils carry you away.'
