حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

«لِيَسْأَلْ أَحَدُكُمْ رَبَّهُ حَاجَتَهُ حَتَّى يَسْأَلَهُ الْمِلْحَ وَحَتَّى يَسْأَلَهُ شِسْعَ نَعْلِهِ إِذَا انْقَطَعَ۔»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Ṣāliḥ b. ʿAbdullāh
  2. Jaʿfar b. Sulaymān
  3. Thābit al-Bunānī
  4. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Each one of you must ask his Lord for his need, even for some salt and even for his shoestring (or sandal strap) if it breaks.”
