✧ His uncle Wāsiʿ b. Ḥabbān was standing praying in the mosque while Ibn ʿUmar ؓ was leaning his back against the qiblah wall of the mosque. When Wāsiʿ finished, he turned to his left toward Ibn ʿUmar ؓ and sat with him. Ibn ʿUmar ؓ said to him: 'What prevents you from turning to your right?' He said: 'I saw you, so I turned toward you.' Ibn ʿUmar ؓ said: 'You have done well. Some people say: When you are praying and you finish, turn to your right.' Ibn ʿUmar ؓ said: 'When you are praying and you finish, turn to your right if you wish, or to your left if you wish.'
