✧ Recitation in prayer and the reason for shortening it

- وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حَيَّانَ الْبَارِقِيِّ

قِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ، أَوْ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: إِنِّي أُصَلِّي خَلْفَ فُلَانٍ، وَإِنَّهُ يُطِيلُ الصَّلَاةَ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَتَا أَخَفَّ مِنْ رَكْعَةٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ فُلَانٍ، أَوْ كَانَتَا مِثْلَ صَلَاةِ فُلَانٍ، أَوْ مِثْلَ رَكْعَةٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ فُلَانٍ

Translation

✧ It was said to Ibn 'Umar ؓ, or a man said to him: I pray behind so-and-so, and he prolongs the prayer. He said: Two rak'ahs of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were lighter than one rak'ah of the prayer of so-and-so, or were like the prayer of so-and-so, or like one rak'ah of the prayer of so-and-so.
