✧ The Intercession of the Believers

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفٌ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُطَرِّفِ الْمُغِيرَةُ الشَّامِيُّ، عَنِ الْعَرْزَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ؓ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

إِذَا جَمَعَ اللهُ الْخَلَائِقَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، نَادَى مُنَادٍ: أَيْنَ أَهْلُ الْفَضْلِ ؟ فَيَقُومُ نَاسٌ وَهُمْ يَسِيرٌ، فَيَنْطَلِقُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ سِرَاعًا، فَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ، فَيَقُولُونَ: إِنَّا رَأَيْنَاكُمْ سِرَاعًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، فَمَنْ أَنْتُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: نَحْنُ أَهْلُ الْفَضْلِ، فَيَقُولُونَ: وَمَا فَضْلُكُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: كُنَّا إِذَا ظُلِمْنَا صَبَرْنَا، وَإِذَا أُسِيءَ إِلَيْنَا عَفَوْنَا، وَإِذَا جُهِلَ عَلَيْنَا حَلُمْنَا، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمُ: ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ، فَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ. ثُمَّ يُنَادِي مُنَادٍ: أَيْنَ أَهْلُ الصَّبْرِ ؟ فَيَتَقَدَّمُ نَاسٌ وَهُمْ يَسِيرٌ، فَيَنْطَلِقُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ سِرَاعًا، قَالَ: فَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ، فَيَقُولُونَ: إِنَّا نَرَاكُمْ سِرَاعًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، فَمَنْ أَنْتُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: نَحْنُ أَهْلُ الصَّبْرِ، فَيَقُولُونَ: وَمَا صَبْرُكُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: كُنَّا نَصْبِرُ عَلَى طَاعَةِ اللهِ تَعَالَى، وَكُنَّا نَصْبِرُ عَنْ مَعَاصِي اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمُ: ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ فَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ. ثُمَّ يُنَادِي مُنَادٍ: أَيْنَ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي اللهِ تَعَالَى - أَوْ قَالَ: فِي ذَاتِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - ( شَكَّ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ) فَيَقُومُ نَاسٌ وَهُمْ يَسِيرٌ، فَيَنْطَلِقُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ سِرَاعًا، فَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ، فَيَقُولُونَ: رَأَيْنَاكُمْ سِرَاعًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، فَمَنْ أَنْتُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: نَحْنُ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - أَوْ فِي ذَاتِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - فَيَقُولُونَ: وَمَا كَانَ تَحَابُّكُمْ ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: كُنَّا نَتَحَابُّ فِي اللهِ، وَنَتَزَاوَرُ فِي اللهِ تَعَالَى، وَنَتَعَاطَفُ فِي اللهِ تَعَالَى، وَنَتَنَاوَلُ فِي اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَيُقَالُ لَهُمُ: ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ، فَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ثُمَّ يَضَعُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْمَوَازِينَ لِلْحِسَابِ، بَعْدَمَا يَدْخُلُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْجَنَّةَ

✧ When Allah gathers the creation on the Day of Resurrection, a caller will call out: 'Where are the people of excellence?' Then some people will stand, and they are few, and they will go quickly to Paradise. The angels will meet them and say: 'We saw you hurrying to Paradise. Who are you?' They will say: 'We are the people of excellence.' They will say: 'What is your excellence?' They will say: 'When we were wronged, we were patient; when evil was done to us, we forgave; and when ignorance was shown to us, we were forbearing.' Then it will be said to them: 'Enter Paradise, and excellent is the reward of the workers.' Then a caller will call out: 'Where are the people of patience?' Then some people will come forward, and they are few, and they will go quickly to Paradise. He said: The angels will meet them and say: 'We see you hurrying to Paradise. Who are you?' They will say: 'We are the people of patience.' They will say: 'What is your patience?' They will say: 'We were patient in obeying Allah Most High, and we were patient in abstaining from disobeying Allah, Mighty and Majestic.' Then it will be said to them: 'Enter Paradise, and excellent is the reward of the workers.' Then a caller will call out: 'Where are those who love one another for the sake of Allah Most High' – or he said: 'for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic' (Abu Muhammad was uncertain) – then some people will stand, and they are few, and they will go quickly to Paradise. The angels will meet them and say: 'We saw you hurrying to Paradise. Who are you?' They will say: 'We are those who love one another for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic' – or 'for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic.' They will say: 'What was your mutual love?' They will say: 'We loved one another for the sake of Allah, we visited one another for the sake of Allah Most High, we were affectionate with one another for the sake of Allah Most High, and we gave to one another for the sake of Allah Most High.' Then it will be said to them: 'Enter Paradise, and excellent is the reward of the workers.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will set up the scales for the reckoning after these have entered Paradise.'
