✧ He asked Abu Sa'id al-Khudri ؓ about the Dajjal. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Every prophet has warned his people about the Dajjal. Indeed, he has eaten food. Indeed, I am making a covenant with you about him that no prophet has made with his nation. Indeed, his right eye is obliterated, as if it is a protruding grape on the side of a wall. Indeed, his left eye is as if it is a brilliant star. With him is the like of Paradise and Hellfire. The fire is a verdant garden, and the Paradise is dusty with smoke. Before him are two men who warn the people of the villages. Every time they enter a village, they warn its people, and when they leave it, the first of the Dajjal's companions enters. He enters all villages except Makkah and Madinah; they are forbidden to him. The believers are scattered across the earth, and Allah Almighty will gather them. A man among them says: By Allah, I will go and look at this one whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ warned us about. His companions say to him: We will not let you go to him. If we knew that he would not tempt you, we would let you go, but we fear that he will tempt you and you will follow him. He refuses except to go to him. He sets out until he reaches the nearest of his outposts. They seize him and ask him: What is his matter? Where does he intend to go? He says: I want the lying Dajjal. They say: You say that? They write to him: We have seized a man who says such-and-such. Shall we kill him or send him to you? He says: Send him to me. They take him to him. When he sees him, he recognizes him by the description of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He says to him: You are the lying Dajjal whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ warned us about. The Dajjal says to him: You say that? You will obey me in what I command you, or I will split you into two pieces. The believing servant calls out among the people: O people, this is the lying Messiah. He orders him, so he stretches his legs, then he orders an iron bar, and it is placed on his tailbone, and he splits him into two pieces. Then the Dajjal says to his allies: Do you see that if I revive this one for you, will you not know that I am your Lord? They say: Yes. He takes a staff and strikes one of his halves or the ground with it, and he stands upright. When his allies see that, they believe him, love him, and are certain that he is their Lord, and they follow him. The Dajjal says to the believing servant: Will you not believe in me? He says: I am now more clear-sighted about you than before. Then he calls out among the people: O people, this is the lying Messiah. Whoever obeys him is in the Fire, and whoever disobeys him is in Paradise. The Dajjal says: You will obey me or I will slaughter you. He says: By Allah, I will never obey you. You are indeed the liar. He orders him, so he is laid down and he orders him to be slaughtered, but he cannot do it. He is not given power over him except once. He takes him by his hands and feet, and he is thrown into the fire, which is without smoke. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: That man is the closest of my nation to me and the highest of them in rank. Abu Sa'id ؓ said: I said: How will he perish? He said: Allah knows best. I said: Will 'Isa son of Maryam ﷺ destroy him? He said: Allah knows best, but Allah Almighty will destroy him and those with him. I said: What will happen after him? He said:
