✧ I was with my master, meaning Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ, when he killed the people of al-Nahrawan, and it was as if the people had found something in themselves about his killing them. Ali ؓ said: O people, the Prophet ﷺ told me that people will go out of the religion as an arrow goes out of the game, then they will never return to it. Indeed, the sign of that is that among them is a black man with a deformed hand, one of his hands like a woman's breast, with a nipple like a woman's nipple. He said: I think he said: Around it are seven coarse hairs. So search for him, for I do not think he is other than one of them. They found him on the bank of the river, beneath the slain. He said: God and His Messenger have spoken the truth. Ali ؓ was carrying an Arab bow of his, poking with it at his exit. He said: The people rejoiced when they saw him, and they were glad, and what they had been feeling left them.
