✧ Uthman ؓ sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, and he permitted him. He entered with his waist-wrap loosened. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Come close to me, O Uthman.' He came close to him. Then he said, 'Come closer to me, O Uthman.' He came closer until his knee ؓ touched the knee of the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ buttoned his waist-wrap with his own hand. Then he ﷺ said, 'O Uthman, you will come on the Day of Resurrection with your jugular veins gushing blood. I will say, "Who did this to you?" You will name and complain, between one who commanded, one who plotted, and one who abandoned. While you are in that state, you will hear a caller crying out from heaven: "Indeed Uthman ؓ, in the judgment of his enemies, is a friend [of God]. So how will you be, O Uthman, at that moment?" He ؓ said, "There is no might and no power except with God," three times.
