✧ Take the gift as long as it is a gift, but when it becomes a bribe for religion, do not take it. You will not leave it; fear and poverty will prevent you from that. Indeed, the millstone of faith is turning, so turn with the Book wherever it turns. Indeed, the ruler and the Book will separate; do not abandon the Book. Indeed, there will be rulers over you: if you obey them, they will lead you astray, and if you disobey them, they will kill you. They said, 'What should we do, O Messenger of Allah?' He ﷺ said, 'As the companions of Jesus son of Mary (peace and blessings be upon him) did: they were carried on wood and sawn with saws. Death in obedience to Allah, Mighty and Exalted, is better than life in disobedience to Him.'
