قَالَ عَبْدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَحِيرٍ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي
أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِعَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ؓ، فَقَالَ لِي: مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ أَنْتَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ لِي: ادْنُ مِنِّي أُحَدِّثْكَ بِحَدِيثٍ تَقَرُّ بِهِ عَيْنُكَ، قَالَ: فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو ؓ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ يَوْمًا جُلُوسًا، إِذْ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَعَدَ إِلَيْنَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَيْنَ إِخْوَانِي الَّذِينَ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ وَهُمْ مِنِّي، أَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ وَهُمْ يَدْخُلُونَ مَعِي ؟ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَذَهَبَ، فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ رَجَعَ فَقَعَدَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَيْنَ إِخْوَانِي الَّذِينَ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ وَهُمْ مِنِّي، أَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ وَيَدْخُلُونَ مَعِي ؟ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَذَهَبَ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُنَا لِبَعْضٍ: لَوْ أَنَّا سَأَلْنَاهُ: أَوَغَيْرُنَا هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ فَمَا كَانَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا أَنْ رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ إِخْوَانِي الَّذِينَ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ وَهُمْ مِنِّي، أَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ وَيَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ مَعِي ؟ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَوَغَيْرُنَا هُمْ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، هُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ، الْمُطْرَحُونَ فِي أَطْرَافِ الْأَرْضِ، الْمَدْفُوعُونَ عَنْ أَبْوَابِ السُّلْطَانِ، يَمُوتُ أَحَدُهُمْ وَحَاجَتُهُ فِي صَدْرِهِ لَمْ يَقْضِهَا.

✧ He was in the mosque when he saw 'Amr b. al-'As ؓ. He said to me: 'Are you from the people of Yemen?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Come close to me, and I will tell you a hadith that will delight your eyes.' He said: 'So I drew near to him.' 'Amr ؓ said: 'While we were sitting one day, the Messenger of God ﷺ came and sat with us. Then he said: "Where are my brothers from whom I am and they are from me, I will enter Paradise and they will enter with me?" Then he stood and left. It was not long before he returned and sat down. Then he said: "Where are my brothers from whom I am and they are from me, I will enter Paradise and they will enter with me?" Then he stood and left. Some of us said to others: "If only we had asked him: 'Are they other than us, O Messenger of God?'" It was only a little while before the Messenger of God ﷺ returned and said: "Where are my brothers from whom I am and they are from me, I will enter Paradise and they will enter Paradise with me?" We said: "O Messenger of God, are they other than us?" He said: "Yes, they are the people of Yemen, the ones cast down in the remote parts of the earth, the ones turned away from the doors of rulers. One of them dies while his need is still in his chest, unfulfilled."
