✧ Cleaning Oneself After Relieving Oneself

وَقَالَ أَيْضًا: حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ

أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ ؓ بَالَ بَوْلَ الشَّيْخِ الْكَبِيرِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يَكَادُ يَسْبِقُهُ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقُلْتُ: أَلَا تَنْزِعُ الْخُفَّيْنِ ؟ قَالَ: « لَا، رَأَيْتُ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَمِنْكَ مَسَحَ عَلَيْهَا » يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

Translation

✧ That he saw Sahl b. Sa'd ؓ urinate the urine of an old man while standing, almost preceding him [i.e., unable to control it]. Then he performed ablution and wiped over the leather socks. I said: 'Would you not remove the leather socks?' He said: 'No, I saw one better than me and you wipe over them' – meaning the Prophet ﷺ.
