وَبِهِ إِلَى عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ - ؓ يَقُولُ:
وَيْلٌ لِي، وَوَيْلٌ لِأُمِّي، إِنْ لَمْ يَغْفِرِ اللهُ لِي - ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ -، فَقَضَى مَا بَيْنَهُمَا كَلَامٌ

حدث به حماد بن زيد عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عاصم بن عبيد الله كذلك وخالفه مالك بن أنس فرواه عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبان بن عثمان عن أبيه عن عثمان ولم يذكر بينهما عاصم بن عبيد الله وقيل عن مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد عن حمران بن أبان عن عثمان قاله أبو خليفة عن القعنبي ووهم فيه أبو خليفة ورواه الثوري عن عاصم بن عبيد الله عن أبان بن عثمان عن عثمان عن عمر ولم يذكر فيه عبد الرحمن بن أبان وهذا الاضطراب فيه من عاصم بن عبيد الله ووهم مالك في قوله عن يحيى عن عبد الرحمن بن أبان أو تعمد إسقاط عاصم بن عبيد الله فإن له عادة بهذا أن يسقط اسم الضعيف عنده في الإسناد مثل عكرمة ونحوه وقال شعبة عن عاصم بن عبيد الله عن سالم عن ابن عمر عن عمر والقول قول حماد بن زيد
