وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْهَبِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ قَالَ:
إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ ؓ ثَوْبًا غَسِيلًا، فَقَالَ ﷺ: أَجَدِيدٌ ثَوْبُكَ هَذَا أَمْ غَسِيلٌ ؟ قَالَ ؓ: غَسِيلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ ﷺ: الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا، وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا، وَتَوَفَّ شَهِيدًا، وَيُعْطِيكَ اللهُ قُرَّةَ عَيْنِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a washed garment on Umar ؓ and said ﷺ: Is this garment of yours new or washed? He said ؓ: Washed, O Messenger of Allah. He said ﷺ: Wear new, live praiseworthy, and die as a martyr, and Allah will grant you the delight of the eye in this world and the Hereafter.
