✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to reconcile between them, and the prayer time arrived. Bilal said to Abu Bakr ؓ: 'The prayer time has arrived, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is not present. Would you like me to call the adhan and the iqamah, and you lead the people in prayer?' He ؓ said: 'If you wish.' So Bilal ؓ called the adhan and the iqamah, and Abu Bakr ؓ advanced and led the people in prayer. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came after he had finished, and said: 'Did you pray?' They said: 'Yes.' He ﷺ said: 'Who led you?' They said: 'Abu Bakr ؓ.' He ﷺ said: 'You have done well. It is not fitting for a people among whom Abu Bakr is present that anyone other than him should lead them.'
