✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ in the market, a woman took hold of the rein of his mount while he was on a donkey. She said, “O Messenger of God, my husband does not come near me, so separate me from him.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Who is her husband?” He called him and said, “What is the matter with you and her? She has come complaining of your harshness, complaining that you do not come near her.” He said, “O Messenger of God, by the One who has honored you, I was with her only last night.” The woman wept and said, “He lies. Separate me from him, for he is one of the most hateful of God’s creatures to me.” The Messenger of God ﷺ smiled, then took his head and her head and brought them together, and said, “O God, draw each of them near to the other.” Jabir ؓ said, “We remained as long as God willed, then the Messenger of God ﷺ passed by the market, and there was a woman carrying leather goods. When she saw him ﷺ she threw down the leather and came to the Prophet ﷺ, saying, ‘O Messenger of God, by the One who sent you with the truth, God has not created anything more beloved to me than him, except you.’”
