✧ Surah Qad Aflaha al-Mu'minun

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الضَّبِّيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ السُّكَّرِيُّ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ؓ:

كُنْتُ أَكْتُبُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُمِلُّهَا: وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الإِنْسَانَ مِنْ سُلالَةٍ مِنْ طِينٍ حَتَّى بَلَغَ: ثُمَّ أَنْشَأْنَاهُ خَلْقًا آخَرَ فَقَالَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ ؓ: فَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ. فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: لِمَ ضَحِكْتَ ؟ فَقَالَ ﷺ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ خُتِمَتْ بِمَا تَقُولُ: فَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ

✧ I was writing this verse while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dictated it: 'And certainly We created man from an extract of clay' until he reached: 'Then We produced him as another creation' (Quran 23:12–14). Muadh b. Jabal ؓ said: 'So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed. He said to him: 'Why did you laugh?' He ﷺ replied: 'This verse was concluded as you said: So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.'
