✧ We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when revelation descended upon him. When revelation descended upon him ﷺ, his gaze became fixed, his eyes open, and his hearing and sight were devoted to what came to him from Allah, Exalted is He. When he finished, he said to the scribe: 'Write: Not equal are those believers who sit back—except those who are disabled—and those who strive in the path of Allah with their wealth and their lives, the verse.' He said: Ibn Umm Maktum, the blind man, stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, what is our sin? Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down [a revelation]. We said to the blind man: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is receiving revelation. He said: He remained standing, saying: O Allah, I repent to You. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, he said: 'Write: except those who are disabled.'
