✧ “No servant weeps so that his eyes shed tears from fear of Allah, the Exalted, but Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will never enter him into the Fire, until the rain of the sky returns.” It is also said that he ﷺ stood on the pulpit when the people returned from Muʾtah, and in his hand was a piece of bread. When he ﷺ mentioned their affair, his eyes overflowed, and he ﷺ wiped his face and said: “Indeed, I am only a human being. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. A man may think he is abundant through his brother. Who has a promise with me?” Then Salmān al-Fārisī ؓ said: “I do, O Messenger of Allah,” and he ﷺ gave it to him. He said: And Barakah ؓ said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ attended to his daughter while she was dying, and she was married to ʿUthmān ؓ, his ﷺ eyes overflowed, and Barakah ؓ wept and tore at her hair. He ﷺ rebuked her, and she said: “Do you weep, O Messenger of Allah, while we are silent?” He ﷺ said: “What you saw from me is mercy for her, and indeed I am only a human being. The believer is in every good station from Allah, the Exalted, whether in hardship or ease.”
